Welcome
to The Justinian Society
Founded in 1935, the Justinian Society is a legal organization comprised of attorneys, judges and law students of Italian-ancestry. Located in Philadelphia, the Society's members celebrate generations of involvement within the legal community.
Justinian Society members are engaged in activities directed toward fostering a spirit of good fellowship, maintaining honor and dignity of the legal profession, performing civic duties, administering justice, and promoting the study of law. The Society promotes continuing education in law, supports the advancement of qualified and distinguished Justinians in public office, serves the Italian-American legal profession and the community, and strives to uphold a positive image and take action against negative stereotyping against Italian-Americans.
The Society sponsors quarterly
luncheons and events honoring
members of the bench and bar as
well as members of our community.
One such honor, the Cesare
Beccaria Award, is co-sponsored
with the Criminal Justice Section
of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Society members are actively involved
national, state and local Bar
Associations. Members regularly
participate in nonprofit endeavors
and scholarship programming including
the Justinian
Foundation. Each year the
society, through the Justinian
Foundation, awards two scholarships
to outstanding law students in
the Philadelphia region. The Society
also contributes to the Philadelphia
Bar Foundation and supports the
elections of its members.
